Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor - Car Buddies?

Oh-So-Adorable!!! Shahid Kapoor's new Unseen Picture

Dharma Productions to co-produce Vettai remake?

Pulling strings for KJo film

Impatient to get Dharma Productions on his resume, Shahid Kapoor convinces UTV to rope in a co-producer.
Opportunity knocks at your door just once, they say. However, for Shahid Kapoor, a chance to work with Dharma Productions has presented itself not once but thrice.

The actor, who couldn't work in Karan Johar's Kaal in 2005 had to wait seven years to be offered another film from the production house. Sadly, due to date issues, the actor had to opt out of the Punit Malhotra directorial as well. Shahid had then said, “I hope it doesn't take us another seven years to work again.” And thankfully, his wish has just come true albeit with a little prodding by the actor himself.

Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Shahid, after KJo's production fell through, was approached by Siddharth Roy Kapoor for the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Vettai. Seizing this opportunity, the actor asked the UTV head to get Karan Johar to co-produce the venture, which will finally add the much-coveted ‘Dharma film’ to his resume.

This managed to magically fix Karan Johar’s problems - Firstly, the filmmaker without having to upset his other productions or Punit Malhotra got a project with Shahid. Also, he got a big film like Vettai in his kitty without having to fight for its remake rights (since Siddharth Roy Kapoor already had it in place). And lastly, he did not have to make Shahid wait for another seven years. Perhaps for the first time, tinsel town's very own peacemaker and problem solver got his dilemma sorted.

Though Karan and UTV remained unavailable for comment, a source close to the latter production house told us that the necessary paperwork still remains to be done.

Our source also revealed that UTV will handle the entire production of the film and Dharma will not really be involved in the execution. The film will be directed by N Linguswamy, who had made the original. Apart from Shahid, R Madhavan will also be a part of the venture.

Two Heroines in Shahid's next with Maneesh Sharma? (e-paper via midday)

Shahid set to play a rugged rogue?

He has largely been known as the chocolate boy in Bollywood. But Shahid Kapoor is set to undergo a transformation for UTV’s Hindi remake of the Tamil action venture, Vettai. Released this January, The Arya-R Madhavan starrer was produced by the same banner. Shahid is likely to play the part originally portrayed by Arya.

When contacted, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, UTV Motion Pictures’ CEO confirms: “Yes, we are in advanced discussions with Shahid, but till we make a formal announcement, I wouldn’t like to say much about the cast.” N Lingusamy will apparently direct the Hindi remake too, while Madhavan may also reprise his role.
Vettai revolves around two brothers — the younger one played by Arya, and the older, by Madhavan. While the latter is sensitive to violence, Arya is a jobless rogue. After being beaten up by goons, Madhavan becomes stronger, thanks to the training he receives from his younger brother. The two then get back at two goons and protect their family.
“Vettai is essentially an action film, but like other south Indian films, it also has a dose of masala entertainment including humour, stunts, dance, songs and romance. But in terms of genre, it’s an action –  rough and rugged kind – film,” says Kapoor, adding that the production house has had a “fantastic start” to 2012. “The last few months have been very good for us.
Starting with Vettai, our big release on Pongal, we have had a great run with Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, and now, Paan Singh Tomar,” he says, adding, “Everything boils down to making the right creative choices. Thankfully, we’ve managed to do it.”

Personal Life can wait - Shahid Kapoor talks about Kunal Kohli's next film and ofcourse, His life!

After struggling to make a mark initially in the film industry, Shahid Kapoor is today one of Bollywood’s most eligible bachelors. Like Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid is also often in the news for his B-town romances. From Priyanka Chopra to Bipasha Basu, Shahid has had his share of link-ups. “I read about it all the time in the papers. it’s good entertainment, hence I don’t feel the need to react,” he says.
In fact Shahid and Ranbir are quite close these days and people actually say that they are best friends. “I had met Ranbir at a recent awards ceremony. He is a great guy. We’re in touch on and off but it’s too early to term us ‘best friends.’ In fact, he has invited me to be part of the world tour he is doing but I haven’t yet checked my calendar,” says the Mausam star.
On the personal front, Shahid, who is known for following a very disciplined lifestyle, says that he hasn’t found his match yet. “I think my kind of a girl doesn’t exist,” he laughs. On a serious note, he adds that he is in no hurry to get married. “I haven’t thought about marriage. One can’t plan these things. It’ll happen when it has to happen. Unfortunately, most people think that actors only fall for women from the same profession. But I’m open to meeting girls who aren’t connected to the film industry.”
Settling down is not a priority and Shahid is currently giving one hundred per cent to his work. His next release with Kunal Kohli has him all excited. “It’s a film that I’ll always be proud of. Mausam took a while to finish but we managed to wind up Kunal’s film before time. I look up to him for his professionalism and dedication.”
Incidentally, these are the two qualities that set Shahid apart from the rest. Which means his personal life will have to take a back seat for a while.

Shahid confirms VETTAI remake

Now it can be told! Like some of his senior colleagues, Shahid Kapoor has consented to do a remake of a South Indian film. UTV's Tamil film VETTAI, starring Arya and R. Madhavan, will now be remade in Hindi, with Shahid essaying Arya's part in the remake. N. Linguswamy, the director of VETTAI, will direct the Hindi version as well.
Reportedly, a screening of the film was held for Shahid a few days ago and the actor agreed to be a part of the remake instantly. So much so that he has even allotted dates to the producers of the film [filming begins from mid-April onwards]. "In fact, Shahid has decided to push other assignments ahead to accommodate the remake," a trustworthy source informs me. Meanwhile, UTV is in the process of finalizing the second lead [R. Madhavan's part] of this remake.
